Day 3: Your Favorite Series

To take the 30 Day Book Challenge (and add your blog to my meme) click here.

I read a lot of series.  I can't pick just one series.  Sorry. No can do.  I think I can narrow it down to two though.

The first is somewhat cliche I'm sure, but it's a cliche for a reason.

That's right.  It's J.K. Rowling's lauded Harry Potter series.  I read every book (with the exception of the first one) the day of release, without putting it down.  I've also already stated that I've reread them all.  Everyone loves this series, and with good reason...it's creative and utterly fascinating.

The second series was published well before Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  It's a very different kind of series.

If you haven't read Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, you should!  Most are available in paperback now so go get the first one, you won't be able to put it down.  I am not the kind of girl who loves romance novels. In fact, in most cases I dislike the genre because it tends to bore me to tears.  Gabaldon won't bore you to tears.  You'll finish each book in one sitting and then you'll crave the next one.  This series is about a WWII era female doctor who stumbles back in time and finds herself in the wilds of the Scottish highlands.  She falls in love with a highlander and the rest of the books outline their tale.  It's a wonderful story, poignant and intriguing.

What are your favorite series?  I'd love to hear about them....

  1. Two of my favorites are the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini and the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. The Inheritance Cycle is still waiting on a book. Inheritance was supposed to be a trilogy, Paolini wanted to put had so many ideas for the third book that he had to change the series and start writing a fourth book. The first book may start out a little slow for you but once you get past that the rest of the series is full speed. The Percy Jackson series was good from start to finish. If you liked the movies you will love the books.
