Day 6: A Book That Makes You Sad

I don't like to read sad books.  I think life has enough sadness.  Books are my retreat from the worries of the world.  In sixth grade my teacher gave me a book to read for accelerated reader.  I read it and I hated it.  I hated it because it was sad and horrific.  That book was:

I am an animal lover.  I've always had pets.  The idea of anyone treating an animal the way poor Buck is treated throughout this entire novel sickens me.  The idea that any animal should have to suffer as this poor dog suffers breaks my heart into a million pieces. I hate this book.  I despise it.  I will never read it again.
