Falling Back

I was really looking forward to catching an extra hour of sleep this morning, but apparently my three year old didn't get the Daylight Savings Time memo.  She was wide awake by 7 AM and by 8 AM she was knocking on the door and climbing into bed with me and daddy.  So much for extra sleep.

So Kenneth and I reluctantly left the warmth of our bed to make the tot some breakfast, and by 10 AM we were out the door and at the park.  By 11:30 I was a popsicle and rather insistent that we return home, so now it's not quite noon and we're making an early lunch while Issa plays with her stuffed animals in her room and asks every now and again when Ava is coming back.

Of course Ava won't be coming back until next month because unfortunately we can only afford to drive all the way down to get her (and bring her back here just to drive back to bring her home and then back home ourselves) once a month or so.  Gas is friggen EXPENSIVE, man!  But we are looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with both girls, and then we've planned a great family Christmas (a bit early--but that's not important) for them in December.  I can't wait!  Neither can Kenny.

And now we're falling back, falling back into more than just hours.  We're falling back into each other and into the groove that is unique to our little family.  We're falling into patterns of familiarity and getting used to our new family schedule--a schedule that for the first time ever actually allows Kenneth and I some alone time every now and then on the weekends!

I'm not sure what to do with my new found weekend freedom (even if that freedom is sparse and few and in between lol).  But here's what we did with our few hours yesterday:

We went hiking

We saw pretty things :)

Best of all, we enjoyed each other's company.  It was a nice few hours all by ourselves, and now we're having a lovely day with one of our girls so I have no complaints.
