I love summer. I was born and bred in the south so the hot weather that wilts most other folks doesn't usually bother me at all. The humidity gets to me sometimes, but for the most part I revel in our steamy, hellishly HOT summer days and I absolutely love summer nights.
This year I'm pregnant though. It's only May and it has only gotten up in the mid to high 80s so far, but I'm already hot. I have a feeling our 98+ degree super humid days are going to really suck for me this year. It may sound naive, but I can honestly say it never even occurred to me that the hot weather might actually bother me while pregnant. Well--surprise, Jennifer! It's not even really hot yet and I'm already uncomfortable.
I was planning a family trip to the beach for August, but by August I'll only have two months to go 'till my due date. We usually go in August to avoid all the crowds, but I'm starting to think an August trip to the beach might be a very bad idea. I think we might have to move our trip up by a few months. Maybe we can go in June or July. It'll still be hot, and I'm sure I'll still be uncomfortable....but I won't be as big as I'm going to get just yet. So now I'm looking into moving our vacation up. I'm sure the girls won't mind, haha!
Despite the fact that I'm knocked up and likely to be about as big as a whale by the end of summer, I'm making lots of plans for family summer activities. I'm not going to let being pregnant rain on my I-love-summer-parade!
I have a cookout planned for this weekend. Then next month I think we'll see if we can go to the beach for a few days. In July the girls are taking swim lessons, and then in August maybe we can take a day trip to the mountains. I'm also thinking we might try to fit a trip to the zoo in there somewhere. And, of course, there will be lots of time spent at the spray ground at the park and at the lake, and in any pool we can find!
I might finally be experiencing all this "hot" I've heard other people whine about most of my life, but I'm no whiner and I'm going to enjoy my hot summer, damn it!
