I've been truly blessed in my life. Today I'd like to share some of my happiest memories with you.
2006: My College Graduation
In 2006 I became the first person on either side of my family to ever graduate college. As you can see by all my many honor cords and stoles, I graduated with every honor you can get. I worked hard for that day, and I was very happy and proud.
2011: I fell in love with an old friend
There isn't a picture of my first date with Kenneth. There are no pictures of our first few weeks together. But this is a picture of our first overnight trip somewhere. We went to Asheville. I think it's safe to say it's a trip neither of us will ever forget. Just like our first kiss. That kiss is one of the happiest moments of my life because it changed everything, and it changed everything for the better.
Late January/Early February 2012:
On January 31, 2012 my doctor's office called to remind me that I needed to take a pregnancy test before I came in for a minor surgical procedure the following week. I snorted into the phone, "We both know I can't get pregnant." The nurse laughed, "Even though that's true, you'll still need to take the test. Or you can wait until you come in and we can give you one--but our's will cost you more than just taking one yourself." So I went to the drugstore and bought a 3 pack generic pregnancy test and was forced to take an extra box because it was buy one get one free. Imagine my surprise when both lines on the first test turned pink immediately. I thought the test was defective. I had to pee on all six sticks before it finally sank in that I had been granted a miracle: I was pregnant.
Kenneth and I were already planning a weekend trip to Charleston, SC to sign a photography contract for our June wedding so I decided to wait until we were there to tell him. This photo was taken on February 1st, shortly after returning to our hotel room after I'd informed Kenneth while walking along the historic battery that we were going to have a baby. I think our joy is obvious. Don't you?
Late February 2013: Ultrasound
This photo might not look like much to you, but it was a miracle to Kenneth and me. I had started spotting and we were afraid I was going to lose the baby. This is our first ultrasound outside of the one I had at the hospital that scary night. This is our tiny baby. Our gazes locked on one another and we smiled so wide when we heard the baby's heartbeat, and Kenneth mouthed, "I love you," to me. This was an amazing moment.
March 13, 2013: Our Wedding
On March 13, 2013 we got married (slightly earlier than expected). Words could never adequately describe the love, elation, bliss, joy, awe, and happiness I experienced that day. It was perfect.
Now:
Every single day is a new adventure, and our family is ready for anything! As my growing bump indicates, Ninja Baby is growing like a weed and I'm six months pregnant now! Our beautiful daughters are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their miracle sibling, and so are Kenneth and I. In the mean time, we are all enjoying every second we get to spend together and we continue to be delighted by Ninja Baby's powerful little kicks.
