Crit Fest 2013!

Many excited writers applied for Brenda Drake's awesome Pitch Wars contest. Unfortunately only a select few are chosen to participate, and that leaves many of us disappointed.  I wanted to do something helpful for people who weren't selected as mentees or alternates.  Crit Fest is what I came up with.

Crit Fest is not a contest.  Crit Fest is a blog hop to help writers find critique partners. However, there will very likely be an independent publishing contest that could lead to several publishing contracts right here on this blog in February and you can only participate in that contest if you were a part of Crit Fest!  Interesting twist:  your CP will probably be the person who gets to pitch your ms to independent publishers for that contest so you'll want to find a great CP!

Here's how Crit Fest works:

1. First, you MUST read this old blog post about what it takes to be a good critique partner and agree to follow the very simple CP rules listed therein (basically, don't be a d*ck).

2. Copy and paste this form, which will be reposted the day #CritFest opens, and fill it out on your own blog under the title: #CritFest: Your Name (ex: #CritFest: Jennifer Welborn). Then copy and paste the link into the blog hop widget that will be listed on this page.  That's it!

Here's the form:

Name or Pen Name:
Genre:
Word Count:

What you hope your CP will do for you:

Why someone would want you to be their CP:

*Try to keep the whole thing between 500 and 800 words.  That way we'll all have time to read everyone's entries.

#CritFest will go live December 13th!
